    Usually $200 for a 1-week trip. Roughly half is spent on a shuttle. Most hostels and shuttles are cash-only. Always bring a card + ID. Nearly all restaurants take cards. Motels generally require a card and photo ID.
    It's all good in the woods.

    Back when there were external frames packs being in vogue, folks would pull a end cap on a frame tube and stuff in emergency cash. My guess is someone could find an spot on most internal frame packs to stash some spare cash, possibly stitching it in. In the good old days I would stash $200 in traveler checks in a ziplock bag deep in the sleeve of my frameless pack where the backsheet resided.

    Why is everyone so afraid of being robbed?

    Three shuttles I used were cash. $20, $10, and $205.
