Default Ultralight or Light Gear List for tall people 7'3"

Hi Everyone,I figured that we have many tall hikers who have difficulty finding gear and keeping it light. So I am sharing my findings, and I hope that people will share what they have found that works for them.My base pack weight is right at 15 pounds. I would love to go lighter, but hard to do with my height. It is changing by the day. https://lighterpack.com/r/ujnph1I am 7'3".I weigh around 315 pounds.I have a size 17 shoe size.

Love to hear your thoughts and see on where I can cut more weight from my pack. I have found some great small companies willing to help. Dutchgear makes wonderful hammocks at custom length. https://dutchwaregear.com/Cedar Ridge Gear makes great custom sleeping bags for the hammock all custom length. http://www.cedarridgegear.com/Elemental Horizon makes great custom backpacks. https://elementalhorizons.com/Lightheart Gear made my custom rain gear. And it is incredible!https://lightheartgear.com/

    See you on the trail!

I’ve read a lot of endorsements for custom down pants by Goosefeet Gear.

Flutch, are you planning on doing the AT this year? Seems like a few years back you were considering it. If so, when is your intended start date? Many folks change up gear as the weather changes.

Your list looks pretty ambitious! No meds (kudos), no first aid kit, no compass, no whistle, no earplugs, no shoes listed (is that typically excluded, even when other worn clothes are listed?), no sunscreen or bug repellent (I'd suggest a bug headnet, at 12-26g), no soap, ....

The only area I might be able to cut back on w/r/t your list is the phone and battery bank. Most people would not cut back there, though.

    Hi,

My list is not complete yet, and I am bring all these items beside whistle, compass. The other items I will bring and will take a long time to dial down to my perfect weight. I am a weekend hiker, would love to hike the entire trail. Back in 2001 I did from Springer to Erwin TN. I was going to hike a couple of years ago and a dream job stop that from happening. Still dreaming and hope to be able to do that one day.

    Thanks for your response!

7'3" flutch. You will have to keep your head low while hiking the Appalachian Trail when in the woodlands

Any photos of yourself showing your height?

Thanks for sharing your info for other tall folks dblthumb2.gif

The tree is taller than you
