    Default Grassy Ridge Bald in the Roan Highlands

    Is it possible to hammock camp near the bald? Asking for some friends

    not really....

    it's a bald.....

    that has mainly bushes around it.........

    that being said, i never went into the bushes to see if it lead to trees....

    but i doubt it.........

    there's a shelter a few miles away that's in the forest where there would be trees to hang....

    but guessing you want to be on the bald.......

    No. The vegetation is pretty much rodo and small trees on the lower end with very little tree growth on top (except for grass). Nothing substantial to hang from. There is a small campsite in a saddle just beyond the summit.

    The night time views from Grassy Ridge are spectacular. Camp near there and do an early evening walk up on top of the ridge and enjoy the scenery.
