Hello Mr. Zelph. Would you still have any of the starlyte bruner simmer rings in stock. I'm getting older and suddenly dry backing and a cup of coffee is sounding good.

Quick heads-up about the Simmer Ring for the Starlyte Burner. It fits the burner with the small ridge on the side of the container as seen in the photo. The burner also has a clear plastic lid. The original container came with a green lid.

    Zelph-
Do you have a recommended distance between the StarLyte Xl-3 Small Opening stove and the bottom of my pot? I'm using a 4" diameter 650 ml Toaks titanium pot and making a windscreen/pot support.

Set it at 2" from top of burner to bottom of pot.

    Zelph-
Thanks! It worked great. I did three, 2 cup test boils at home and each was 12 minutes using an average of 14 grams of yellow Heet. This was in still air so now I will check out how well my windscreen blocks wind and how much extra fuel is needed in field conditions.

I haven't been burning all the fuel. Is it safe to burn it dry or does that damage the absorbent material? Conversely does it damage the material to leave it capped with fuel for storage?

FWIW,I have always burned all the fuel out of my Starlytes.I'm interested in what Zelph will say about storing dry vs with fuel or if it really matters................

It's safe to burn it dry, won't hurt the absorbing material.

I'ts safe to store fuel in Starlyte Burners with the lid on.

I use a filled burner when I go on day hikes. My favorite alcohol kit is the Sterno Inferno Kit:
