Default Best Shoe/Boot outfitter on the AT in the south

    Hi Guys
I remember hearing mention of a local shoe fitting expert somewhere on the southern end of the AT. I don't remember where / who it was.
I was at my local REI last week and was very disappointed at the recommendation I got for footwear for completing the trail. (Big Boots)
Does anyone have any suggestions of the most knowledgeable footwear fitters south of the Tennessee border?

Outdoor 76 in Franklin, NC, is known for their shoe-fitting expertise. I was hiking near Franklin last year but wasn't able to go by for a fitting. I hike with someone whose wife went by for a fitting and was pleased with the advice and recommendation they made. Good luck!

+1 Outdoor 76. I got good advice there, and a pair of trail runners, when my boots were in tatters.

A friend of mine has been quite enthusiastic about the hiking shoes she was fitted for at Outdoor Trails in Daleville, VA.
