As the title says: I had to use a VPN to get into this site.
This is been going on for about a week.
Any idea what's going on? Anyone?

Too much latency for you to reach WB.
Your ISP in Thailand has either blocked or blacklisted the IP range for WB.
Also - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intern...ip_in_Thailand : Forum boards are usually blocked content.

Try doing a traceroute to WB.

Did someone on this site defame the King?

Thanks for this info Tennessee Viking.
It has always worked Ok in the past so, something must have changed.
I'll just use the VPN (opera) when I want to see what's going on in the US hiking world.
(by the way, I'm heading to NZ for a month long hiking trip in 4 more days. Can't wait!)
(and please folks, don't discuss the king. If you've ever been to Thailand, you'll know that it is not something that's discussed)

I had an issue using FireFox's new VPN. One of the servers I selected had their IP blocked by WhiteBlaze.net. I switched to another server and it worked again. I have a feeling the admin has blocked a bunch of IP addresses associated with hackers and spammers that also end up blocking regular users.

If you send me your IP address in a private message, I can put it on the unblock list.
I had to block Thailand. We started getting hacked from there.

A couple of months ago I couldn't access WB from Israel. I messaged the site administrators and got the region temporarily removed from the blacklist. Apparently lots of hacking going on from over there. Seemingly WB was back on the blacklist before my trip was done.
