Katahdin Stream and Abol campgrounds are also open. If you're in Monson this late I really suggest calling ahead for a rez at Katahdin Stream instead chancing you'll get one of the 12 spots at the Birches. No water at the Birches, and the AT runs right through Katahdin Stream.

Last year Abol campgrounds were closed when I came out of the 100 mile on October 17th, but I was very happy for the trash can they kept out there until at least the 22nd when I got picked up by Abol Bridge.
