    Default Suzanne Dixon

While reading my AT Journal this week, I was surprised to read that Suzanne Dixon was leaving! I was so impressed with her! Was it something we said?

    in this article--

    http://www.appalachiantrail.org/home...to-replace-her

she says this--"“Serving as the President/CEO of ATC has been the fulfillment of my professional career,” said Ms. Dixon. “My decision to leave ATC as of August 30 comes only after deep reflection on my professional and personal needs, and my belief that ATC is on a solid foundation to move ahead to realize its visions. The wonderful impact that ATC has had on me is something that will guide my future career.”"

    pretty generic answer though...

As a member of the ATC, I received a letter via email in July about her leaving. I spent nearly 50 years in corporate businesses large and small before I retired and have seen this many times. So, it's hard not come to a more covert conclusion about her leaving. Such is a fact of life in business.

BTW - She was with the ATC less than two years.

Seems like a lot of speculation going on, with no supporting evidence.

They had great continuity when the ATC paid (underpaid?) the CEO peanuts. This was in the years the ATC did such amazing work to secure a continuous footpath.

Less luck since the BOD upped the salary to a “fair and competitive wage” deemed critical to attract the caliber of person they want— rather than hire an ordinary person and true believer (perhaps from within) who would be happy with $120k in Harpers Ferry. The organization demands more, evidently.

My knowledgable source told me that the ATC has had 8 Presidents/CEOs in their history. Only 3 lasted more than 2 years. A huge part of the job these days is raising money. Here are two news stories on the national search for a new ATC President/CEO which resulted in Suzanne Dixon being hired.
