Default Weather in March or April in Great Smoky Mountain National Park?

Is March and April considered spring season (aka wet and cold ) but no snow? Or could you still get snow in march and all of april in the smoky mountain national park?

Also the weather changes a lot with elevation. Gatlinburg will typically be 15 to 20 degrees (Fahrenheit) warmer than higher elevations.

Mt. Leconte will have temperatures more like those in Canada.

Good information on the National Park web site.

Grew up in the area at only 3000' elevation. My sisters b-day is April 7th. It was a family understanding that we would have snow within 1 week of her b-day. Happened almost every year. Have seen snow around Memorial Day several times.

Snow in March at higher elevations is expected....In April it is not unusual.

LeConte Lodge in GSMNP has reported that at one time or another, they've gotten snow on LeConte every month of the year except July and August.
