The man in handcuffs sort of had the look of a thru hiker — Ball cap, t-shirt, shorts, grey beard.
Any other reports make mention of that— or if the hand gun pictured was being carried legally or not?
And most importantly, if the police are still searching for the other hiker who was reportedly involved and/or if there is any reason to believe he presents a risk.
I would encourage the ATC to post a list of all reported incidents on their website in as close to real time as possible. In those cases where generally accepted law enforcement procedures require it, a summary from the Chief Rangers’ office could be posted.
