I noticed on Google Maps that there is a road called Saunders Rd. that come close to Saunders Shelter, is there an access trail to Saunders Shelter from there or is it easier to hike to the shelter from the spur trail from Taylors Valley?

I know that the water source is down the hill in the direction of that road. And you walk on an old forest/ logging road to get to said water source. It is very possible that if one was to continue following this water source it could meet up with Saunders rd.

Sounds like a safer bet to grab a lift to Taylors Valley, take the switchbacks up & go from there. Thanks Gambit!

Yes I agree. IF I were a local and just curious about this topic I would start at Taylors Valley trail head and once at Saunders, go past the water source and see where it leads. But if I was planning a hiking trip from "nonlocal" location, I would stick to what is known.
