    Default MSR Elixir 1 person

Any fans here or thoughts on the MSR Elixir 1 person tent? I’ve found this tent for a great price with a footprint. But, before I commit to the purchase I was wondering as to people’s opinions on them.

    Thanks in advance!!

It's an ounce shy of 4 lbs.
You could spend a little more $ for a pretty substantial weight savings.
    .
Have you read the comments about it on MSR's site?
1st comment speaks poorly of it, the others were generally positive

I have read several reviews of the elixir and there are some that love it, and some that are not fond of the tent. I have a lot of msr products, but not a tent. I am looking for a good, backpacking tent and at the price I found this at, it seems hard to pass up. But, that being said, if it’s not a good product, the price being low doesn’t help. Just thought I’d ask here to see if there were any users.

    To follow up...
If it's not one of the common tents used by the folks here, it's probably not a good value.
It may have condensation issues due to lack of ventilation, or it could just be too heavy for most to consider.
There's a saying around here: buy once, cry once. Meaning, when we try to save money by buying a cheaper item, we usually end up regretting it and spending more money on the better one later; costing us more money than if we had just bought the more expensive one to begin with.
    .
The popular tents that sell between $300 - $600 have pretty good resale if they aren't abused.

Yeah 3-600$ isn’t an option here.

If you use trekking poles, there's a Chinese tent that looks an awful lot like the zpacks duplex, but made from silnylon, called the lanshan2. It's a lot lighter than 4 lbs (2.55 lbs) and quite inexpensive. The lanshan1 is even lighter.

Shop the used market for a decent, low mileage TarpTent, Six Moon Design, Mountain Laurel Design, etc. shelter.
Or a Chinese knockoff for $100 max.

Lightheart Gear has the Solo model on sail for $225. Gets you a sub 2 lb USA made tent. I don't own one, but it's worth a look.
