Question - ZPacks pouches

are any of these pouches water "proof", specifically the zippered travel pouch here

I have a number of the pouches (wallet, passport, cell phone size). They are very water resistant when new but seem to get less so over time. My wallet pouch got drenched in a storm years ago and I remember having to dry out the currency inside. I wouldn't trust it for electronics or anything that absolutely cannot get wet. For that a ziplock, perhaps inside the pouch, is the best option. This is what I do with my small compact camera. It goes in a zpacks pouch normally. When it looks like rain, I put it in a ziplock and it goes back inside the pouch.

They do pretty well.

Ive had the same Zpacks wallet for 4 years now. It has exceeded my expectations durability wise.

I kept in my pocket the whole AT and nothing got wet inside. And i walked through some pretty torrential rain storms.

But no.. i wouldnt trust them if i wanted to waterproof something.

As Will says in the ZP Pouch vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtBS...ature=youtu.be they are WR not WP. They are made with a WR zipper. The seam taping and DCF does add to the WR but the WR is enhanced when used with DCF seam taped backpacks when the pouches are used inside the pack. I bought ZP stick on DCF mitten hook patches to attach to two DCF pack interiors that didn't have interior loops to hang interior ZP key pouches where I may store wallet, car keys, cheap electronics like a Mp3 player, non WP micro watch battery light, or back up mini BIC. This set up has kept these items dry. No pack cover used. I usually don't need any added water protection using a Ziploc unless in highly wet environments. If I hung any of ZP's pouches outside on my pack stuff would get thes items wet when exposed to heavy and prolonged moisture.

BTW, that's where I can save some wt... using seam taped DCF packs on crossover paddling/backpacking trips w/ a tough trash compactor bag verse a WP dry bag that is sometimes overkill and heavier and sometimes pricey. No red Smartarse phone batteries.

They are not waterproof.

They are the most water resistant zip type pouch one could buy though.

The DCF waterproof.

The seams are taped which waterproofs the seams.

It uses a "waterproof" zipper.

The only way water can get in is from the zipper.

Light rain should be fine.

Submerged it will leak.
