Default Shuttle from Fontana Dam to Davenport Gap Mid May 2019

    Hello all,

I am looking for a shuttle or someone to split a shuttle with in mid May. I am planning on shuttling on May 15th 2019 but I am able to move to any day that week. Parking at Fontana Dam (any info on the best place to park would be appreciated), shuttling to Davenport Gap, and hiking back to the car.

    Thanks for any help,

    Dylan

I think NOC does shuttles out of Gatlinburg. You could also try Standing Bear Hostel, in which case you'd be better off parking the and hiking north.

I believe you can park at the damn at Fontana.

Be sitting down when you find out how much that shuttle is going to cost. It's 106 miles one way and takes nearly 3 hours.

You can park at Fontana dam and the shuttle prices last fall were around $180.

A walk in the woods is very professional and quoted me a fair price from Cades Cove to Clingmans.

I'm interested in this. Let me look at a few things and get back to you. Are you committed to Parking at FD and shuttling North for a SoBo hike? any chance of flipping that? It's not a deal breaker, but would eliminate a couple hours from return trip home. Also, one can park overnight at Fontana Dam. A few months ago I was part of a group that parked near the Visitors Center and showers and took a shuttle south to Deep Gap. It was pleasant finishing FD, having a nice warm (and free) shower before my 12 hour drive back home to Pa.

heck, I would even be interested in tacking on an extra 35.8m to add North to Hot Springs if you are looking for a bit more by any chance. It would avoid a gap between sections for me.

Shuttle from Hot Springs to Fontana Dam was $200-250 in 2017 if I remember right. We got a shuttle from a friend of the guy running Laughing Heart.

Thank's for the help everyone, I think I have it sorted out now. Ended up talking by wife into visiting a friend in NC the same week. Dropping me off on her way there and picking me up on the way back.

I am planning on section hiking Deep Gap to Fontana Dam in May. Who did you use to shuttle you from Fontana Dam and how much did it cost? I'm also from PA.

Ron Brown can do that shuttle. I will warn you in advance that it could be $200 or higher as there is usually a higher charge to get picked up/dropped off at Deep Gap.
