“It had occurred to people to link (some of these trails), but Renee had never actually touched foot to those connecters,” Ras said. “Nobody knew if the connections even worked.”

A similar loop has already been pondered with various connections. I don't know why in an age of creative LD backpackers designing loops that utilize portions of well known named trails with cross country or lesser known trails it hasn't already been articled. I guess once the guidebook, Youtube vids, and beta starts amassing things will change a bit.

I've thought oodles of diversity and solitude can be experienced in a LD hike beginning Sage Cleggs Japhy Ryder Route in Death Valley NP taking the Low to High Route(lowest(Badwater and highest pts( Mt W) in the Lower 48), hiking across the Sierra on the JMT, SHR, PCT, TRT, and Yuba River Tr to the Lost Coast Tr on Cali's Pacific Ocean taking in Redwoods NP along the way connecting with the Cali Coastal Trail going NOBO to Crescent City CA picking up the Oregon Coastal Tr NoBo to the mouth of the Columbia River. I don't know the Columbia River Gorge trail or hiking potential but that might be included all the way back to the PCT to form a huge lollipop.

ID's Centennial Tr combined with a big portion of the PNWT either EaBo to the CDT at Glacier NP to the GDT or WeBo to the Olympic Peninsula crossing N Cascades NP or taking the PCT SoBo has intrigued me for yrs.

I could see possibly incorporating the Big Foot Tr. That would be a great LD hike!

The rivers and drainages as well as ridges in WA's and NF's heading to the Pacific Ocean in CA and OR are ripe for scenic adventuring for creative innovative backpackers.
