Sorry, I've edited my post... I sort of stated that like I knew what was going on. My intention was to try to give a possible simple explanation of how we got to the bear is dead but he isn't, why did they let the bear go?, etc. Too many people seemed to have a hard time figuring out what happened, so I wanted to give a simple explanation.
Sorry the details came across as if I knew exact facts that I do not.
The edit makes more sense.....
i have a feeling you were probably right about it---it just never was confirmed like that......
fwiw, we (wbir) are doing another story about this bear and the guy tonight....
should be on the website later tonight...
not sure what angle reporter is taking with it today....
the angle is that the family thinks someone killed him and put his body back there...
check out the website later tonight and story should be there..
Two things----preliminary autopsy came back inconclusive on cause of death...
also---Rangers told victims family that the bear was killed Tuesday night...
so internal miscommunication is why the confusion over that...

...and the preliminary autopsy included a necropsy on the bear. Rangers have NOT excluded possibility of foul play.
But we've already beaten that dead horse.
TNHiker, is this the article you were expected, or will there be more tonight?

thats probably it for tonight as I doubt we will get any new info from Park tonight..
obviously, we will continue to follow this story and I'll provide updates....
But we've already beaten that dead horse.
yeah---but I was (since people were questioning) that there was confusion beyond what they told the press...
Wait, there’s a dead horse, too?!?

so to make this clear as mud - we now have a dead, horse, man and bear - but only the bear has a verifiable cause of death
