Bug protection in shelters

I've carried an OR bug bivy for about 7 years now. Super light, takes up no more space than my x-therm. Keeps the bugs, mice, snakes out of my bag and I sleep like a baby, although the is a bit of acrobatics involved in entering and exiting! All being said, I wouldn't leave home without it!

For that kind of weight you can get something you can sit up in, get some gear inside, a lot more flexible. A zpacks hextarp or a 3FUL "summer tent". Others as well.

I use an old SMD Meteor bivy. Perfect for keeping bugs and mice off you while in a shelter. Good for keeping your bag dry if rain sprays into the shelter. Pretty easy to get into and out of also.
