    Default Trail Camera

I was thinking of carrying a Trail Camera while hiking the Florida Trail, I would set it up and point it towards my tent to see what critters come passing by at night. Hope to get some interesting photos.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm torn. It does sound like fun, but I'm afraid I'd learn something I'd rather not know!

Fred, at my age I would just end up with several pictures of me getting up in the middle of the night to visit a tree. No thanks

I don't post much in the FT forum here but here is a thread having to do with the subject:

Go for it. Sounds interesting. Now I'm tempted to do that but I got rid of my trail cam.

I have often thought about doing this on my weekend/overnighters in ONF. I don't think I'd want to carry it the length of the trail though.

My luck I'd wake up and be in a hurry to pack up one day and leave it attached to a tree.

The only problem with that is most trail cameras I know of are bulky and heavy for a backpacker, anyway.

If you hike with a partner you could sneak it into their pack and it wouldn't weigh anything. You're not carrying it + they don't know they're carrying it = no additional weight.

    Would something from Blink work?

A coworker has one and the pictures look great (only seen the daytime, not infrared) and it is small, battery powers, waterproof and inexpensive.

I have one on backorder (missed out on the Prime Day special) for my backyard.

Not sure if it would work with a WiFi connection direct to your phone (like cameras have) or via Bluetooth but if it did you could even monitor attacking critters while huddled in your bag.

I think he may be getting ready to render first aid to the fellow lying down. Perhaps offer to assist?
