I agree with OwenM pretty much across the board. No tent inside, thank you. When I shove off in a rainstorm I want my pack---packed---and the tent's the last thing packed on the outside of my pack.

Plus, when I arrive at a camp in the rain or sleet I don't want to get inside my pack for anything---and so an outside-lashed tent is quick to remove and set up.

My pack has cinch straps on the sides and on the bottom of course.
