Planning on starting in April, NOBO as well. Been dreaming of that trail for years, now this year is my year as I have nothing holding me back! Arriving from Brussels, Belgium, so I don't see myself coming back sooner than Katahdin.

Might have a ton of newbie questions, been reading/watching a lot to prepare but there is just too much. See ya on the trails folks!

There's nothing wrong with an April start. You'll miss a lot of the dismal freezing weather... but probably not all of it. Be prepared.

Just make sure you get your visa issues straight early.

Visa is already done! That's one thing less to worry about.

And yeah avoiding the freezing temps is quite interesting, although I'm prepared i can't pack a winter option to mail back. Just need to see how to get to the begining of the Trail from Atlanta, and a sim card plan to survive there

April 1-15 NOBO, using the extra two weeks to scrounge a bit more cash in case I need to. See you all on trail

Is there a preferred time range to begin one's hike ?

    Next year.

July is probably the earliest one should consider beginning. Could be a big SOBO crowd about then.
The AT - It has it's ups and downs...

Seems like it could be possible as others suggested - more likely for those who can hike faster being starting later.
