Been pulling the paper out from the center since the 1980's. It's a trick I though everyone knew.. It means that if you're getting relief in the rain, you don't have to get the whole roll rained on.

Anyone use the solid rolls ( no hole or cardboard tube)? I haven't bought any in a while , but got a package of three rolls and plastic dispenser in the sporting goods section at Walmart.
Saves space and the dispenser keeps the unused tp dry. Relatively expensive but I don't use a lot.
Works for week end or section hike. May not be practical for LASH or thru hike.
