This Power Couple Are Hiking the Appalachian Trail For Their 5-Month-Long Honeymoon
    POPSUGAR
The truth is, Dan and Nicole have decided to trade their newlywed time, commonly spent under palm trees or on the Riviera, to journey from Georgia to Maine hiking the 2,181 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Being a dream of theirs even before saying "I ...

If these folks are a “Power Couple”, why are they taking so long?

At 2,181 they are going to come up 8 miles short.

What's a power couple? What distinguishes them from a regular couple?

"Normal couple attempts an AT thru hike" didn't have that Popsugar sizzle

hey, it said the solution to the frozen boots was to walk in them till they thawed.
Could you get frostbitten toes doing that?

Carry no more than 10% of your body weight. Great for me at 194lbs. Not so easy if you weigh 105

I think it's a sweet article, obviously written by a completely inexperienced admirer, which, frankly, I admire.

That being said, yeah, their hair will be grown back before they hit tick country, I hope they don't actually finish the trail with blisters, I want one of those bear repelling potty trowels, if frozen footwear the a high stress situation, well, there's gotta be something else going on, and finally, given that a "power couple", in my understanding, is a couple that are both employed in high paying and highly influential jobs, I don't think two newlyweds on a five month backpacking trip quite count.

But hey, I haven't really read or watched too many popular media pieces about something I had intimate knowledge of that didn't have some pretty significant flaws in their understanding and/or interpretation of facts. Makes you wonder about our nation being lead by a guy that gets most of his understanding of the world from a TV set and one news channel.
    I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

Not if you’re hiking fast enough.
My solution to frozen footwear is sleep with them.
So, are these folks a power couple because they hike in boots?

Maybe WhiteBlaze could tell us what makes them a "power couple"? And why they deserve a thread?

Usually "Power Couples" are two people that are in the top 20-25% in the field that they work in. Event planning is a very lucrative high paying career.

Isn’t a Power Couple the device that makes sure the pilot light in my water heater stays on?

Because we have a Bot that searches for Appalachian Trail news. If you get your local paper to write an article about you that has Appalachian Trail in the title then our Bot will most likely create a thread on this site automatically.

"The first step in getting ready was saying goodbye (for now) to their jobs of managing events and teaching dance and fitness"

Doesn't scream "Power Couple" to me...

I probably should have said event planning can be a very lucrative high paying career. I meant things such as the Victoria Secrets as an example. Sorry for my mistake.

The Bot even links "news" stories about people who hope to hike the AT. And some who said they hiked the AT and didn't really!

Such as kids with no backpacking experience who intend to “Not just break, but shatter” the A.T. speed record? I really enjoyed that one.
