Very often it's more of a climb than a two feet on the ground saunter more dangerous than Mt K's Knifes Edge.

Unfortunately, tourists often in a hurry because they are trying to jam too much into a Hawaii visit, with so many outdoor activities to choose from, attempt this with not enough respect to the strenuous and at times high danger level of the hike. Limited timeframe HI trip tourists aren't usually focused enough for this hike. So often it's males driven by adventure adrenalin and testerone in a if anything is worth doing its worth doing fast mindset that get into trouble on hikes or situations like this.
Here, look at the hike. Look at the topos. Very precipitous fatal drop offs. The hike has ropes to assist, actually needed, unless you're an experinced true climber, and even if has some fatal exposure.

I lived on Oahu once upon a time and quickly learned that one should not go hiking after a rain. If that mud is wet, you start sliding and there's no stopping you. Hawaii is as deadly as it is beautiful.
