Just thinking out loud here, but the ALT isn't that far from the AT, so area AT shuttlers might be source to consider. Not to mention, but the southern/eastern end of the ALT is a college town isn't it? Might find some college kids to do it cheap. Same thing possibly for the Boy Scout camp at the northern/western terminus (they were at least helpful when I called them with questions about parking). Finally, outfitters in Asheville might keep lists of western NC mountains shuttlers?

Anyway, can't name a specific shuttler, but these ideas come to mind if you can't find one otherwise.

Wow. Someone who thinks and it was done without ceding to a smart fart phone. Good suggestions Rainman.

Main concern was on the north end. I think I'm going to go SOBO and turn it into a larger hike. Do the shuttle only for the start.

I've heard its better north to south for your first time. Hardest navigation at the beginning and more options to jump off near the end if needed.

Search Shuttle for Art Loeb Trail on here. There's a good thread from 2016. Hopefully still good info.

Have fun and post a trip report when you go!

    Wouldn't South-North be a bit easier?
