Default Tinker Cliffs long term parking

What is the closest place to get hiking permit to tinker cliffs?
What is the safest place to park at tinker cliffs for a nine day hike?
Is it easy to get shuttles back to vehicle heading soon from tinker ciffs?

Thank you all so much for the help!

don't think you need a permit.

You could probably park at the Howard Johnsons in Daleville. The trail basically goes through their parking lot. They might appreciate your spending the night there first.

In 9 days you could probably get to Pearisburg, which is just under 100 miles (93). That section includes Tinker cliffs, McAfee Knob, Dragons tooth, the Audie Murphy monument, a few views from power line cuts and a lot of boring (but easy) ridge walking in between.

Or you could go the other way, starting at Pearisburg and ending at Daleville.

Bottom of Andy Lane Trail up to Scorched Earth Gap. No permits. Just fun.

I wouldn't be inclined to leave a car for 9 days at the Scorched Earth Gap trailhead. Daleville (either the park and ride or the HoJo) would be better options. You could even check with Outdoor Trails at Botetourt Commons. Not that long ago they indicated that they encouraged people to park there for trips. Still worth confirming that it's their current outlook.

Closest, true. But safest? I’ve never parked there for 9 days

You can park in the Kroger shopping center in Daleville. There is an outfitter there that has shuttled us in the past. As noted above, you'll be able to get a fair distance beyond Tinker Cliffs. It's a nice section, though I thought it was tougher than I expected (the ridges are parallel and the trail crosses all of them )
