Default Soft vs Hard Sole Shoes for Dogs

Asking those whose dogs have worn shoes/boots/socks on their thru hike, did you use a soft or hard sole for their shoes?

I tried the ruff wear soft bootie for “just in case” paw injury. My dog hated them. Dogs like to feel the earth beneath their paws and also leave their scent . If your dog is frightened, smell her paws, they will stink.

I brought duct tape and had my wool sleep socks to create a bootie just in case. Never needed it.

Youtube video of dog wearing booties, wish I had recorded my dog!
