The stuff is great.

Boil water. Add butter and stuffing mix and chicken or sausage.

It is a meal with some real calories.

I like stuffing mix a lot more than the Lipton sides.

Freeze dried meat meat is a lot lighter than in the foil packets.

Butter or olive oil lasts me three days even in warm weather if I pack it in a ziplock.

The taco meat works great with various freeze dried beans and lentils and a tortilla.

So does the chicken.

I just wanted some pork/sausage for variety.

Looks like at the Walmart link they originally charged $39.95, so your 2nd post of $40 makes sense. Perhaps they were just trying to clear it out or had some that needed to be sold quickly and thus reduced it in price?

Go to World Market and buy individual servings of shelf stable 1.75 oz. summer sausage and 3.0 oz. ham. Slice & dice and add to just about anything. Instant refried beans really perk up with the added meat.

You do realize that almost every grocery store in the US stocks summer sausage. This is what I buy most of the time for my meat and its high fat content. I usually buy a 1 lb version for a 4 day resupply. It tastes great and I have never yet tired of it. No need for cooking (I don't carry a stove for a variety of reasons) as it is already cooked. Have never had it spoil yet. And it costs a small fraction of what you are talking about.
