    Default My. LeConte this morning

7” of new snow and 5 degrees F. this morning.
    Fun!
Snow day for the grandkids in Boone.
    Be warm. Be safe. Y’all!

Is the Profile Trail to Grandfather passable when y'all get snow? Or is too steep at the top?

I wish I knew. Sorry. I've only hiked it in June.
Actually, once you get past the vertical boulder field beyond the spring, the trail to the ladders is quite nice. The last time I was up there the wind was blowing about a hundred and 11 knots. I called it quits at the bottom of the first ladder. I'm guessing: Ice anywhere on the trail might be the greatest hazard.

That little bit after the spring is what I was thinking of. I hadn't thought of the fun of those ladders covered in snow and ice.

I love LeConte in the snow. Being the first on the trail in the morning and the sound of new snow crunching under crampons.. Dreaming of it at my desk right now!!

I've never made it to the top of LeConte covered in snow, but I once got to be the 1st to hike Alum Cave after a major snow fall. Walked to Arch rock and back thru 1' deep virgin snow.
