That's a good point... I always have a printed copy as well. Requires more resolution than can be uploaded here.
The long-range weather forecast—which is pure fantasy at this point—calls for somewhat warmer temps, although this must certainly be based mostly upon averages from past years. Less than two weeks (!) now but a lot can happen!

Now that the holidays are behind us and the new year is here, I can start thinking about MLK
I'm hoping this cold breaks and that my wife and I are both cold free.
We'll see, only time will tell.
Right now the 10-day forecast is showing a chance of precipitation on Friday/ Saturday right with temps on the rain/ snow line. I'm hoping for snow over cold rain. Temperatures look pretty moderate, though, so should make for comfortable nights.
Does anyone know what the snow cover is like in Harriman after today's storm?

We got more snow than expected today and there could be some pretty decent drifts in the hills. It's good that the Mon-Tue warm-up is not predicted to be much above freezing, with maybe a bit more snow Monday.
I'll do a dayhike next Wednesday to Tom Jones to check out things.

If the snow is really serious, my daughter is out. If it's as cold next week as it is now, I'm out also... not geared for wind chill in the negative 30s. Hopefully cmoulder will have good news for us.
I always know where I am. I'm right here.
Looks like significant warming next week. I hope it isn't too warm!

I've got Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights available...I might opt for Saturday and Sunday night to get the best of the weather...Will see as the weekend gets closer.

Right now we're looking at the perfect recipe for slush.
As things look right now Kathy and I won't be able to get there until Saturday evening, or night.
I guess we'll meet up with ya'll at Dutch Doctor shelter.
We do plan to stay in the park Sunday night too, at a secret location that will only be disclosed .......oh never mind
I would think we are at the whim of mother nature and how the weather turns out. Friday nite, Tom Jones shelter. Saturday, Dutch Doctor shelter, Sunday..................................
Kathy and I will be spending Sunday night in the park.
Where may depend when the festivities conclude at the Inn.
If anyone else is going to stay we can make it a group decision
... and the forecast keeps getting worse.

actually, it is starting to look pretty perfect for a late saturday afternoon start, and a stay through monday. Once it gets colder and the soaked snow sets up we may well have perfect microspike weather on Sunday and Monday. Easy walking on crust, pretty ice covered world. sounds like i'll get to say hello to you, AKevin! We do seem to have a pretty good record for icy conditions on these get togethers...

Saturday morning on looks good to me. I have to work all day Friday anyway, so I think I will time my arrival for early Saturday morning. I will probably hike a bit on my own and meet you all at Dutch Doctor in the afternoon.
Does anyone know what the snow depth is in that area now? Two inches of slush is not the same as 12 inches of slush. Looks like Sunday morning will be a pleasant ice skate.
