Default Sleeping pants that aren't "tights"?

I've been on a search for long sleeping pants to use on multi-day hikes. Ideally, these would be warm and light. While I might use them underneath my hiking pants if it got really cold, their main use would be something to sleep in on cooler nights. Here is the thing though - I HATE the feel of tights -- form fitting legging-like pants. So, I am looking for something with a loose fit ... sort of a pajama bottom that is made from a material that is suitable for hiking, warm, and lightweight. I can't seem to find a pair that fit the bill. Anyone got something like this to recommend? Thanks!

These ones look like they are less form fitting than most base layer pants while still being slim enough to wear under hiking pants. I have a pair of sweat pants that are very similar.

You don’t own or use long underwear? That’s what I carry and keep bone dry specifically for sleeping in. Mine are form fitting synthetic fabric that slides easily on the nylon fabric of my sleeping bags.
Try sleeping in your hiking pants. If they don’t get tied up in knots, go shopping for synthetic pajamas.
    Good luck!

You can't go wrong with Icebreaker (except for the prices) and these pants look neato superb. All I use are Icebreaker leggings and they are both my sleeping "pants" and my on-trail hiking Pants when worn under my shorts.

Given your criteria, I feel like fleece sweat pants might be an inexpensive option that would be worth looking into.

I also have a hiking buddy who carries actual cotton flannel panama bottoms when backpacking, they are kept dry and separate and only for sleeping, but he says they increase the quality of his sleep enough that they are well worth it to him.

Ragged mountain Equipment in New Hampshire makes fleece pants that would be perfect for this. I have a pair, nice lounging pants in the Winter, indoors.

One of the guys I hiked with for awhile bought a pair of cotton PJ pants early on and used them all the way to to Katahdin. Mostly for sleeping, but also around town. Be sure to get some with pink bunnies printed on them

I wear a version of UA running pants like these. Just search Under Armour Run Pants and you’ll get a good list.

Being one of those wacky ULers I just wear my wind pants over longjohns.

Or if it's cold enough, I might end up wearing everything I brung.... longjohns, pants, wind pants, down pants

    Good 'nuff!

For sleepwear some use silk . Can be very light and does not stink up like synthetic stuff.
I use Merino wool but it is the usual tight fitting type.

Find some pajama pants made from plush material...its lightweight and synthetic so it will continue to work even when wet.

Yeah kind of what I was thinking when I read this. Lightweight fleece or microfleece lounge pants. They're also cheap. Also Champion makes some fleece pants that would work, I'd think

My base layer is Merino wool. I'll use it when sleeping in temps under roughly 20 degrees. The top and bottom are both loose fitting and super lightweight. The bag should do most of the work in keeping you warm. I like the wool cause it wicks perspiration from your body and out through the bag. Ultimately keeping you warmer by breathing.
