Based on several years of scientific research in to magnetoreception, products are now available to help people locate true north (magnetic).
University of Osnabrück in Germany initially developed the true north belt (it's not just for people who are sight-impaired). There are also true north implants available.

By using these tools to locate true north, one could also develop their own sense of magnetoreception. Alternatively, using Gerry's baby steps could be used to enhance one's magnetoreception sense.

So, what about using magnetic products such as magnetic bracelets, sleeping pads, pillows, pendants, necklaces, dog collars, socks, compression sleeves, etc.? Maybe you're thinking about buying a magnetic product for yourself or for someone else as a gift.

Should these products be used/worn when hiking? Will there be any medical benefits to using/wearing magnetic products?

Magnetic products have been used for thousands of years, and there is a lot of information out there on possible health benefits (increase circulation, increase oxygenation, alleviate arthritis, increase general energy, pain relief, injury recovery, stimulation of acupuncture points, balancing body pH, enhanced immunity, and more) . There are a number of theories as to why some people experience health benefits from magnetic products. The use of magnetic products is endorsed by the Magnetic Therapy Council, American Cancer Society, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and others including those practicing alternative medicine. Small scientific studies have found health benefits in using magnetic products, whereas larger scientific studies have not.

    Some concerns regarding magnetic products:
    - magnetic strength (varies, and is quite often compared to fridge magnets or MRI gauss)
    - quality of materials used (some magnetic metal products have caused skin irritation, rashes)
    - existing health condition (do not use if have a pacemaker or insulin pump)
    - not to be used to replace medical treatment
    - resonance or interference with heart and brain EMF?

Will these products help in finding true north?
Most magnetic products do not make this claim (except for those with web links in the quote above).

If you're considering using a magnetic product (and don't have a pacemaker or insulin pump), consult with your medical practitioner first. Following this, you may also consider using Gerry's baby steps to test out a magnetic product to determine if it could be beneficial for you to use for hiking, or otherwise.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path (adventure, journey):

    Sequence A (baby steps)
This is short session in your Mind Studio, approx. 20-25 minutes in duration.

Find a comfortable spot and posture. If you’re lying down, do your best to stay focused and not fall asleep. If you find that you’re falling asleep, get up, walk around then find another comfortable sitting spot. Don’t do Sequence A just before going to bed or operating motorized equipment including vehicles. You can use background music, however, remember to use this music only for going in to your Mind Studio, otherwise, it may trigger the neural pathways that you’re working on creating through these exercises at an inconvenient time. The music shouldn’t put you to sleep or take you to another brain wave state (other than alpha). You can record these instructions to guide yourself during Sequence A (give yourself enough time for each activity in the sequence – you should have a rough idea from your previous practicing of the baby steps). You can also journal your experience each time you do a sequence.
    START:
Take note of your starting time.
Close your eyes. Keep your arms and legs uncrossed. Make sure your breath flows easily, in and out. If your hear outside noises, acknowledge them and continue to concentrate on Sequence A.
Ensure that your muscles are relaxed (without alcohol or drugs – to enhance your body’s natural capabilities and to not dull your senses). You can use the progressive muscle relaxation technique of your choice for this.
Start by visualizing the colors in sequence - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and violet. Feel the colors surrounding you and being taken in through your breath, experience each color with your 5 physical senses. When you’ve completed the violet color, then pause.

In front of you is your nature scene. Spend 1-3 minutes walking around and enjoying your nature scene and experiencing it with your 5 physical senses.

Now look for the steps that lead from your nature scene to your Mind Studio.

Start taking the steps to your Mind Studio – you can use your legs, arms and body as if you were actually taking the steps, to embed this part of the sequence in your brain. Count each step sequentially as you take them (Step 1, Step 2, etc., you can do this out loud if you wish).
When you’ve completed all your steps, you’ve reached the secret entrance of your Mind Studio. Pause. Look around. Scan the environment around your Mind Studio.
Then, use your code or key to unlock your secret entrance and enter your Mind Studio. Pause inside.
The white light shower has been activated. Let the white light flow down and around you, and feel your scattered energies being washed off your body into the ground. The white light shower will stop after a few seconds.

Feel yourself entering your Mind Studio. You may wish to remove your shoes, hang up your coat, whatever you feel comfortable doing.

Next, stop by your office area (this is usually the first area you visit in your Mind Studio).

Are there any new messages for you on your telephone?
Is there any mail on your desk?
What date is showing on your calendar? Is there anything written on your desk calendar?
What time is it on your clock? Is the time current?
Is there anything on your screen?
Are there any messages that require your urgent attention and/or response? If yes, take action (return a phone call, write a response to a letter, remember what you need to do today and any future events posted on your calendar).
    Take note of non-urgent messages.
You can use the pen and notepad on your desk to write down these non-urgent messages so that you can remember them after you’ve completed Sequence A. (It’s best to write down these messages instead of typing them in to a computer or other electronic device).

Now, go to your recreation area. Notice if anything in your recreation area attracts your attention.
Is there a piece of equipment that you would like to use or an activity that you would like to do in your recreation area? If yes, spend a few minutes exercising or doing an activity – use your 5 physical senses while you’re doing this, moving your hands, feet and other body parts as if you were doing this exercise or activity.

It’s time to leave your mind studio now. Head back to your secret entrance, put on your shoes and coat before you exit. The white light shower will be activated for a few seconds to provide protection to you when you exit. Open your secret entrance and step through the entrance. P:ause. Let the white light shower invigorate you; when it stops, turn, and close your secret entrance.

Take the steps back to your nature scene, remembering the use your 5 physical senses, and count each step in reverse order (for example, if you have 5 steps, you’d start by saying Step 5, then Step 4, etc.).

You’re now back at your nature scene. Experience your nature scene for up to 1 minute, with your 5 physical senses.

Then, turn, and go through the visualizing and breathing in the 7 colors in reverse order (violet, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red). When you’ve completed the red color, then pause.

Open your eyes slowly. Regulate your breathing. Review what you experienced and jot down your notes in a journal. Rise slowly, remember to drink some water. You can now go about your day.

Keep practicing Sequence A until you can do it the entire sequence comfortably. Reach out if you have any challenges with the sequence.

More science of practical interest to hikers.....

Counteracting the effects of positive ions in our environments.

    What are positive ions?
Positive ions are generated by electromagnetic fields, such as computers, cell phones, and other electronics. Weather conditions have also been identified as contributing to more positive ions in our environment - cold fronts and low pressure systems. Various air-borne pollutants contribute to positive ion formation in our environment. We have more positive ions in our atmosphere because the earth has an overall negative ion charge. There are more positive ions in the atmosphere when the moon is full than its other phases. Other materials contribute positive ions to the air we breathe including carpets and upholstery from man-made materials, plastics, some metals, and lighting especially fluorescent.

Many health conditions have been linked through scientific studies to having an imbalance of positive/negative ions in our environment including breathing problems (asthma, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, immune system challenges, impaired brain function, headaches, irritability, allergies, and other health conditions). When we inhale positive ions as we breathe, these positive ions turn in to free radicals that make our blood acidic and cause injury to cells and tissues.

We need negative ions to balance and exceed positive ions to be healthy. Negative ions are found in abundance near flowing water, plants and trees - in other words, in the great outdoors - Mother Nature.
    https://www.quantumbalancing.com/negative_ions.htm
Negative ions purify the air and negate the effect of positive ions on our bodies, they have been shown to improve many health conditions.

There are products that generate negative ions that can be used for your home, work and transportation. Interestingly, wearing magnetic products may also contribute to minimizing the effects of positive ions. You may want to check out which negative-ion generating products could be of benefit to you by following Gerry's baby steps. Or, be out in nature more often (hiking) or surround yourself with nature features in your environment that generate more negative ions.

There is science behind the baby steps that have been outlined in previous posts (pathway to neuroplasticity). Science indicates that using your physical senses to describe and sense a color will enable your mind to produce different brain waves. These brain waves allow us to interact (or not) with whatever is around us, including nature. In regular day to day activities, most of us produce beta brain waves. Using baby steps described in previous posts can help get us to alpha brain waves where we can integrate our right and left brains, sense and interact with our surroundings. This is the purpose of the baby steps, to get us to the state where we can, as electromagnetic generators, to interact with other electromagnetic generators. Just keep practicing the baby steps, and note the progression from beta to alpha brain waves in the image below. ♥

    Attachment 40762
EMF Nutrition and its impact on brainwaves:

The human body needs more negative ions to counteract the effects of positive ions. The more negative ions, the greater the ability to promote production of alpha brain waves. And the more we're in alpha brain wave state, the more we can tap in to our healing and creative powers. By being able to heal ourselves better and in a shorter period of time, we're able to participate in activities such as hiking. Being in alpha state also improves our immune system, helps us to reduce stress (by producing less cortisol) to feel calmer and more in sync with our bodies and Earth.

When you're practicing the baby steps to reach the alpha state (using the colors), consider doing this in an environment where there are more negative ions than positive ions (grounding outdoors).

    Gerry's spiritual path.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path (adventure, journey, trail):

Sequence E (baby steps) - Reducing F.E.A.R. and stress

F.E.A.R. (False Expectations of an Altered Reality)

In today's busy world, we deal with multiple issues and tasks at any given time, and are less likely to time take to de-stress. We experience stress in many ways: traffic, exposure to EMF, work and home pressures, etc. Our brain experiences these types of stress through our primitive hard-wired neural pathways as real, not perceived (F.E.A.R.) stress, such as was required in dangerous situations (being chased by a bear while hiking, falling off a cliff, getting soaked with rain, running in to a blizzard). Because there is no real down-time, we respond to these stresses by having multiple illnesses including panic attacks, anxiety, and depression to name a few. Our brain is overworked from stress and begins to function as if there is a need for a stress response at every corner; our brain begins to anticipate scenarios (F.E.A.R.) in which it needs to deal with situations that require fight, flight or fright.

To reduce F.E.A.R., you may wish to consider following Sequence C and invite in an advisor or guru instead of a coach or instructor to identify various F.E.A.R. and stresses that really don't necessitate a primal stress response. In your Mind Studio, work on each F.E.A.R. or stressor individually in a session. Invite in an advisor or guru, describe the stressor or F.E.A.R., and ask for help to identify a way or ways to deal with it. Make a point to practice the way(s) your advisor or guru has provided to you to create new neural pathways in your brain so that your brain can access these instead of the hard-wired stress responses. Save the primitive stress responses for real situations!
