HF to Rockfish Gap: water situation?

I might be mistaken, but it seems as though most of this area has had little rainfall over the last couple of weeks. How has this affected the water availability? Any information is appreciated.

I did a short hike in part of this area over Labor Day weekend. There was water in the spring at the Priest shelter, but it was pretty doggone low and it had been raining for 2 days. Very, very dry in central and northern Virginia right now.
