Who thinks it's possible to make it to Katahdin by June 1?
Not out of the realm of possibilities... 116 Days has been done. However, it is a fast rate that can be impacted by environmental, physical and mental aspects. Works out to around 18 miles a day without zeros, fighting weather, bugs and poor trail conditions. If looking to minimize these factors and increase the chance of success, slide the start date back a Month or so. If wanting this challenge and June 1 cannot be altered, go for it. Not for me but HYOH.

Trail Name: Waiting for one on trail
Direction: NOBO (although may end up teeechnically an unconventional Flip Flop, since I'm going to do a shakedown hike of 70 miles near home in VA right before heading down to Springer. During the thru depending on my pace I'll decide whether to repeat those miles or skip them. Has anyone else done something like this before?)
Estimated Start Date : April 16
Approach Trail - Why not?
any additional info that you want the world to know:
I'm keeping a blog at www.tefltrekker.com, which also has a lot of photos and stories from the past few years teaching English overseas. (Morocco, Spain, Dominican Republic) I'll also be posting photos on instagram at @tefltrekker. You can also search fb for TEFL Trekker and follow there. [/end shameless self promo] (I'm hoping to transition from teaching to travel writing as a career in the next few years, so hitting all my social media bases!)
Trail Name: Dr Pepper
Direction North bound

Approach Trail - yes or no Nope...Already did it. Im starting at Unicoi Gap
any additional info that you want the world to know: Hurt my knee two years ago and had to leave the trail (at Unicoi Gap) so Im not going to try and hurry this time.
Slow and easy. This time I will be alone though. My son cant go.
I had a student (Koltrain to Maine) do it in 100 days, but he left in May.
The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Trail name: Funny story...I think mine is going to be Hit~N~Run and my husbands will be Crunch~N~Munch. That’s because my husband is blind and if we see a bear I’m going to hit him and run! Then all I will hear is the bear going crunch and munch on him! Although we may get given different Trail names after we start. Boy this is going to be a fun adventure!
