Default 170916 Cohutta Wilderness Hike (or, that time I caught a rattlesnake)

My wife and I went on a short day hike in the Cohutta Wilderness (N GA) recently, planning on a relaxing day and nice little mid-day hammock nap. Things went mostly as planned with one glaring exception...

Here's the companion blog article that gives a little more detail about the whole event...https://couch2trail.wordpress.com/20...are-you-crazy/

    It was a great day!

    Good job, John!
I hate when people kill snakes.

I just returned from a 20 day backpacking trip into Cohutta and saw 2 copperheads and a rattlesnake.

Did you find the snake in the campsite?

Why did you pick it up?

We saw two copperheads on a hike there on Labor Day. It makes you wonder how many you didn't see!

It was just across the trail from their campsite.

I give a lot more detail in my blog post. Reader's Digest version:
    1. I like snakes.
    2. It's the snake's home and we're just visitors.
    3. It was the best option for the snake and the scouts.
    4. I really wanted to and thought it was cool =)
