What's the general consensus on this cold-weather piece?

It seems like they brought out a new color range to replace the old, which at the moment can be bought at about $150 dollars less than what I paid for a grey one that wasn't grey at all, but 50 shades of a peculiar green. Think I'll leave it in my closet and use a more stylish and less shiny puffy that doesn't glow in the dark. It seems popular so maybe I'm in the minority. Other than that it's warm and has a hood. Very light.

The majority of thru-hiker videos I watch, they carry this jacket. I have almost bought one myself when they have gone down to $180. Very light but not the lightest in my mind. If I was attempting a thru, I would go with the Montbell Anorak. Similar weight and cheaper except when the Ghost is on sale for 50% off. I just noticed that they have the Plasma 1000 that is ~2oz lighter than the Ghost, I recall this model but not that it was 4.8oz. 1000FP down apparently as well.

Caboose and I both carried this jacket from Springer to Katahdin. It's very light and offers okay warmth for it's weight. If you expect to use it in temps well below freezing, be prepared to layer it over something like a Patagonia R1 hoodie.

I bought one for my JMT thru last year when I was able to find one for $150.
If you don't care about the color, I think I see some currently available at Sierra Trading Post for that price.

After I posted the Montbell jackets, I checked email and had one from Mountain Hardware. End of year color clearance, both the hooded and non Ghost are included.
