On Saturday, August 19th, a group of us were day hiking northbound, with our cars at Arden Valley Road. After 12 miles of the 18, 4 of us realized we would not make it back until after dark and sought an alternative way back to our cars from Route 17 (Harriman State Park). Having nothing to loose, I tried using the Lyft app, and found it would only cost us $12 plus tip, with a driver 10 minutes away. After a quick ride, we then thanked the driver and using the app, we generously added the tip. The driver let us know Lyft operates frequently in the surrounding areas. I realize this is a busy area, not as rural as many, and was a short ride, but thought it was worth sharing. For the low cost, it beat having to try to bum a ride for 4 back to our cars. (Yes, we had lights and water, and could have rested, and then hiked back to our cars if needed...)
