Silpoly poncho /ground cloth durability?

Would silpoly last using it as a ground cloth ? Thinking of making one about the size of a zpacks poncho ground cloth or a tad bigger.

Sure, depending on what conditions and length of time "last" means. Silnylon is pretty tough, tougher than cuben fiber or Tyvek, but you'll kill anything with lots of use on rough terrain. Also, silnylon may weep a little moisture whereas ultrasil urythane/sil materials are the same weight, more waterproof and tougher yet.

Meanwhile,
For $10 at Ace Hardware I bought enough 1.5 mil window film (polycryo) to make several ground cloths for my 1 & 2 person tents. The 2' x 7' version weighs 1.6 ounces.

Thats what I use now window film ground cloth with a shaped tarp. Walmart often has it on sale in the spring for $1.99 . I don't like using Window film for poncho. Hoping to have a 5oz poncho I can use as a ground cloth. Like a zpacks but not $175.

I don't think I'd want my rain gear stuck under my tent, anyway. Make a polycro groundcloth for your tent and keep your poncho handy. In a real toad strangler, you might need it to keep dry, even inside your tent. The combination of the groundcloth and poncho will still be half the weight of rain parka, ground cloth, and pack cover.
