I was in Grand Lake for a long week. It has been very hard hit and lots of clear cuts due to fire danger of existing residential areas. I was amazed at the large number of young trees that had naturally re-seeded and were exhibiting healthy growth. A post earlier stated that re-forestation would be hampered at elevation, GL is 9500' or so, but not sure what the conditions would be or if the info was incorrect.

We hiked Mt Elbert a couple weeks ago and the lodge pole forest on the Halfmoon Creek TH was very healthy. It was nice to have a shade canopy with lots of room below.
