Looking to purchase a pack for the basic "weekend warrior" backpack camper.
Some I know get the 80$ packs on amazon but figured I'd try my luck on a used-quality pack.

70 to 80 liter pack for a weekend hike?
Maybe you should buy your gear and then see what size pack you need. I'm by no means ultralight but I can fit my gear into a 45 litter pack for a 1 to 2 day trip. I generally use a 55 little pack for longer trips. I like my food lol

Or does he mean 70-80 dollar price range?

Note: OP's locale is in Wisconsin. First thing that goes in that pack is an 18 pack of canned beer and possibly a partial bag of ice, last thing that goes in is a bottle of brandy. In between, will remain a suitably sized pack for his weekend hike.

lol These comments are too funny. Case of PBR is why the space is necessary. We generally do 3 nights so a long weekend warrior. Clothes, sleeping mat, GSI cookset, sleeping bag, fishing gear, heavy on the food, luxury items....why I pack extra.
None of my stuff is super ultra lightweight or compact. I've borrowed a friends 70 or 80 Osprey and it just felt right

70-80 lbs is too much for beginner
Even Tipi had to work up to that
Ditch the PBR and pack some moonshine. Much better alc/oz ratio
You can walk in another person's shoes, but only with your feet
And the pack has to work while you wear a cheese head.
several years ago I bought a cheap pack....thinking it would be good enough considering I'm not using it very much and no realistic plans to do any huge distances.
I ordered a Teton Sports Explorer 4000
I have since even seen this pack on a recommended lists for scouts as a decent cheap pack.
I suppose it is perhaps.....
But
this buy I regret. The pack is heavy.....and I wish that I would have bought a better pack form the get-go
Looking at zpacks now.
Thread over.
Sorry, I have little specific advice about giant packs. Most packs I've seen have weight ratings. Exceed that rating and it's far less comfortable. Try to find a place where you can try them on in person. Bring six gallons of water along and ask if they'll let you load it up, while you try it on?

Lots of 70-80 liter packs. Last year's Aether is a good high volume load carrier. Lighter than the new replacement and a lot cheaper. Gregory, Deuter, whatever works for you.
