    Default Drone Crash

It's not like PCTers don't have enough to worry about this year in the Sierra Nevada, now they have to dodge falling drones.
    http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/l...621-story.html

A U.S. Air Force drone the size of a small airliner has crashed in a remote section of California near Mt. Whitney.
Edwards Air Force Base said in a statement that the RQ-4 Global Hawk, an unmanned surveillance aircraft, was making a routine trip Wednesday afternoon from Edwards to its usual home at Beale Air Force Base when it crashed for unknown reasons.
The Inyo County Sheriff's Department said the crash caused a small wildfire that was quickly brought under control.

Of course the LA Times misrepresents the drone as a being the size of a "small airliner". It's 47' long and comparable in size to a medium size prop plane. Learjets are bigger. Forget the good news that we didn't lose a pilot and crew.

Story may have been referring to the 130 foot wingspan of the RQ-4, much larger than a Learjet. Many people aren't aware that there are drones this size.

When people hear "drone" they think "one of those toys my neighbor's dbag kid has", not "large airplane that could kill you if it landed on you".

    Small it's not.

    14,000+ mile range. 60,000' ceiling.
An unmanned replacement for the U-2. Pretty cool.

That's not pretty cool; it's bad ass. It kills terrorists and they never see or hear it. They just die.

Yes, very wide wingspan for an aircraft that size, just like the U2. Overall mass still smaller than most private jets I says. Perhaps a pilot can explain why.

    I believe it's unarmed.
If anyone dies it's the result of target intel gathered by the drone.
