Anybody using cocoa butter in place of dairy butter or coconut oil? I added a couple cocoa butter discs to my lentils today and loved it. I'm thinking it would be a less messy alternative in warm weather.

Using full aromatic food grade cocoa butter chips sounds interesting. Never thought of this alternative. And cocoa butter can be used for skincare, hair, etc purposes. Doesn't 100% cocoa butter chips also melt at room temp or have a low melting pt?
Cocoa butter melts at about body temperature. You can soften it in your hands to make a spread or balm.

Update to my cocoa butter cooking experiments.
It's great in black coffee and on top of hot biscuits or pancakes.
This is not really for the trail, but if you cut a handful of discs into your butter for a cake batter you get the most amazing cake and the smells, oh the smells.

sounds interesting.......but if these things melt or soften at body temp, how do you deal with them backpacking?
I definitely try using it to make some Funky Dumplings :-) Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
I make a fudge by mixing cacao wafers and very dark chocolate with a bit of peanut butter. It gets soft in warm weather but it has to be really hot to completely melt it. Check out other recipes and sign up for my upcoming cookbook on https://ketogenicbackpacking.com/about/
