    Default Tick Report-hiker poll

So I've read the deer tick population is supposed to explode this season.

How many ticks have you picked in the past week? What was the Nearest landmark, shelter, road when you discovered your hitch-hiker

I went out three weeks ago without permethrin infused clothing and had three ticks of two varieties. Went out this past weekend with permethrin and ... nothing.

Picked 5 deer ticks off me just walking in the back yard last Sunday. 10 miles west of the AT/I 90 crossing in Becket, MA http://www.caryinstitute.org/science...s/tick-project

I second this: The Panhandle area is pretty bad right now. I sprayed with DEET last hike (in Chattahoochee) while my hiking partner had no protection. I found three ticks on me (two in the cuff of my pants, one on my shoulder); my partner had close to ten.

Working out in the yard this week here in Central New Hampshire and they are out. Plenty thus far but I don't know if they are any worse than the last few years at this same time.

Haven't seen a tick this yr. Did have some poppy seeds from a bagel fall on my shirt though.

They are really bad in Connecticut so far this year.

Did a section on the BMT from Three Forks to the Hwy 60 crossing, found one tick back at home. Didn't attempt to identify it, just flushed it.

Cumberland Trail in TN: Brady Mountain section - one tick recent hike. Adjacent Black Mountain section - 3 ticks on hike last year, including one that was small enough to be a deer tick, but it might have been a nymph.

Never noticed a tick on any of more than a dozen other CT sections. But had them in this area.

Had a tick come off my pack in Hot Springs a couple weeks ago, but haven't seen any since then.

One tick on foothills trail on forehead of fellow hiker. I am doing Permethrin treatments to my hiking clothes this week.

I live about 1.5 mile from the AT in NJ by Waywayanda State Park... I was doing some spring clean up yard work over the weekend and had 7 ticks on me. No Deer Ticks, all wood ticks.

Already had a few in Eastern Mass, and haven't even gotten outside much yet. Last year I saw one all year down here, none on the trail.
