Question Deep Gap (NC) to Dicks Creek Gap (GA) questions.

From a slack packing perspective, please share your thoughts and experiences.

    Easier hiking direction?

Generally able to do it in a day, one way?

Recommendations for transportation from the vehicle, once the drop off point is decided?

If the difficulty is about even southbound or northbound, who offers the best deal for us? Google says it's about an hour to drive from Dicks Creek Gap to this drop off spot.

Thank you for your feedback, in advance.

Having hiked it both ways, I would say southbound is easier.

It would be a long, hard day. 16 miles but pretty rough ones. SOBO would definitely be easier. The climb out of Bly gap is a stairway to heaven and NOBO hikers always comment on how hard it is. Plus you got a bunch of other bumps along the way which will get your attention.

I don't know how you'd get from one end to the other by car, but I suspect its a long, round about drive.

SOBO for sure. The climb North out of Bly can be rough. Did it one time in the rain. One step forward, slid back half a step. Talk about a long climb...

There are several shuttle services that operate in that area. Call around and get prices.

Southbound. Joyce and Sally get good recommendations for shuttling: 706-896-9339

Southbound. I've done this as a day hike twice and I'm in average shape for my age. It was a hard, but rewarding day. I would plan on more than one hour for a shuttle ride. Maybe 1.5 or more.

Southbound could be a one day trip. Northbound would be a killer in one day.
