Default Balance Weight & Volume: Big Agnes Fly Creek UL3 vs. Big Agnes Seedhouse SL3

I'm looking for a lightweight 3-man tent for my wife and I + gear and maybe a dog/small child some day.

We would like a single front entrance tent, lightweight yet has ample space inside (factoring in height, floor space and overall volume).

I have narrowed it down to these options below, please comment or provide feedback on what you think would work best for our situation.

I am a NOBO AT thru-hiker in 2011 and am looking to do shorter backpacking (4-5 days) for the foreseeable future.

Packed Weight Height Width Length Retail
    REI Co-op Quarter Dome 3 Tent 4 lb. 3 oz 42 70 90 $379.00
    MSR Mutha Hubba NX Tent 5 lb. 0 oz 44 68 84 $499.00
    Big Agnes Fly Creek HV UL3 Tent 3-Person (2016) 3 lb. 5 oz 41 66 88 $449.00
    Big Agnes Fly Creek UL3 Tent: 3-Person 3 lb. 8 oz 42 66 90 $429.00
    Big Agnes Seedhouse SL3 Tent: 3-Person 3-Season 4 lb. 11 oz 44 70 90 $399.00
    Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 Tent (Current Tent) 3 lb. 2 oz 42 52 90 $429.00

After using a side entrance tent, I prefer a side entrance, rather than a front entrance. We each have our own side. Our 4 season tent is a front and rear entrance and it is cramped, but its only a two person tent.

Why change from your current tent?

I'm curious why you have narrowed your search down to the listed tents, all of which do not meet your stated criteria.

Why a front entrance instead of side entrances, incidentally, like the Quarter Dome?

I would happily use a Fly Creek for being light weight.
I would happily use a Quarter Dome for living comfort, at a great price, with a small weight penalty.

I'd ignore the other options since they don't seem to offer anything special in my narrow perspective of the world.
    I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

I was thinking the same thing. The current tent sounds just about perfect. Grab something bigger when you have the dog/child.

We are satisfied with our BA FCUL3. It is 4 years old and you really can't tell it's use history by looking at it.

You can get one on sale at sierratradingpost dot com for $225, after the 25 percent discount coupon(sign up for email), free delivery. That is an unbeatable deal on a very good tent.

Personally, I am fine with a front door tent...

I'd go with the tent I had.
