People lived in primitive shelter in these mountains for thousands of years. Even with all those generations of bushcraft and knowledge handed down, they had a high infant mortality rate. Babies don't suck it up when temperatures drop into the teens or they're caught in rain that lasts for days. They die. Tiny bodies lose core temperature very quickly.

They also traveled in groups and not very far each day.

Can't mail that gear (baby) home when you realize it's heavy and annoying after 10 miles.

I think baby s-h-one-t is more effective than Pemetherine in keeping ticks at bay

Only if you soak your clothes in it for several hours and then let it dry.

    Yes it does.
Which, to me, throws the entire credibility of the article in serious question.

I believe it is a sloppy mistake by the author of the article, as there are no direct quotes. The couple grew up in Roanoke, very close to the AT, and currently live there, having moved back from SC.

In my mind, the only one exposed is the ignorant writer.

why not? They got them flat rate boxes of varying sizes, a 5lbs. 5oz. Baby is no bigger that a sack of flour.
