    Cool Springer mountain parking

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good spot to park near Springer Mountain. I have heard some of the roads might be hard to travel with a two wheel drive. Any help on a good spot that is accessible would be appreciated.

You can get to the Springer parking lot with 2wd. Especially if you come in from the West side.

42 is usually graded pretty regularly. I last drove it in a Chevy Cavalier. The road gravel can be bit chunky and some big humps in spots but just take it moderately. But the road is pretty clear for 2WD.

The parking lot one mile north of Springer is accessible by nearly any car, especially if coming from the north/west side (not from Dahlonega). Just take it slow and go around the worse of the bumps.

As has been said, if you come in from the Ellijay side, on GA 52, take Roy Road to Doublehead Gap Road. Locate FS 42-3 and this will take you directly to the Springer Parking. Passable by most cars.

I wouldn't park there overnight, I had my windows broken out and all of my belongings stolen.
