Just finished topping off my shuffle for the hike...46 hours of tunes and a little George Carlin. I like a really varied mixture and with over 600 songs, no one artist accounts for more than 10 of them. Having said that, here's just a few artists who in my opinion, are great to have along on the trail.

Government Mule (Nothing beats Warren busting out with Soulshine when the weather sucks)
    Stevie Ray Vaughan
    George Thorogood
    James Taylor (yeah, I know...)
    America

    Maybe that'll get you started.

Lord Huron has several songs that seem like they were written with thru-hiking in mind... Meet Me in the Woods and others.

If you like to sing along to your tunes, but can't do it well, you can't go wrong with the Barry Manilow collection. Guaranteed to reduce shelter population by 40% on its own, tone deaf sing along increases that to 73%.

With music like that, the miles fly by...even the hard ones.

I like Trance and Ambient EDM - white noise with a beat. Plus there are many hours of it for free download on Amazon.

Throw on some kinda comedy act its always good to laugh ones butt of every now and again.
Hiking the AT is “pointless.” What life is not “pointless”? Is it not pointless to work paycheck to paycheck just to conform?.....I want to make my life less ordinary. AWOL
