Default Beech gap to Bob Bald

    Hello good people,

I need to sleep outside. I want to see something new. I want to avoid humans

Im looking at beech gap to Bob bald as an overnighter.

Does anyone have a current update on this section? ie; water sources, trail conditions...etc

Any info, tips, or suggestions would be awesome!

it's only a couple of miles to get up to the bald. there's a spring in the patch of out-of-place looking fir trees on the bald. there's another piped spring up there, but I forget exactly where on the bald it's located. if you're up for it, you should continue on down to the Hangover, while you're up there.

If you come in from the gap---the piped spring is on the left after the trails split off (there's a nice rock to sit on right here)....

    and yeah--go to hangover...

more than likely though --you will see people...

i would also expect to see some burned out areas...

The plan is going to the Hangover from beech gap.

I realize there always gonna be people but hopefully not AT like traffic

Should we camel up at the Bob or is there some water between there and the Hangover?

Besides the two springs on Bob Bald, the only other spring up on that ridgeline that I know of is at Naked Ground, the low gap between the Bob and the Hangover. from Naked Ground, if you follow Slickrock Creek Trail a short ways to the north you'll see flowing water to your left. if you end up spending the night at Naked Ground, there's a heath bald not too far down Slickrock Tr with some views to the north.

    Yeah...

spring is down Slickrock creek trail a touch...

and to the left---there should be a little trail that leads to it...

it not---go a little further down and I think it becomes more obvious...

also---there's a spring at hangover---just passed the big rock, look to left and down hill..

at one point a couple of years ago--there was a short stump of a tree someone had cut and that's where ya turn to go downhill...

its down there a touch---flow picks up the more ya go downhill....

    Thanks for the info!

The weather was insane up there his past weekend. One moment the fog was so thick and wind blowing so hard that it felt like it was raining at 40 degrees. It was not fun

Couple hours later and down about 1,000 ft elevation, the sun was out and it was perfect walking weather...
