    Default thru hike

is anyone planning AT thru hike for 2019 or 2020?

Yes. SOBO. I'll start within a day or two of the summer solstice on one of those years. Which year depends on when my 403b balance tells me I can retire. That looks like it could be as soon as Spring 2019 but could possibly be up to a year later than that.

Maybe. My start year depends on when my son graduates unless I go the year before. He told me I can go now as long as i stay for his birthday but im inclined to wait till hes 18. Im planning a flip flop from HF.

    No. Overcrowding closed the trail.
So, don't tell anyone that you are planning an AT thru hike.

Good luck with that. Go sleep outdoors tonight through the weekend in Virginia or northwards.

You better make sure your ducks have insulated snow boots and goose down puffy coats.

I certainly hope so. Many here don't seem to have the proper respect for winter in the southern mountains.

I have witnessed those winters and know how extreme they can get.

Good. You're cool. Help others to understand how the high ridges on the NC-TN border more closely resemble western Massachusetts than Hilton Head.

Doesn't mean I won't have several questions and seek a lot of sound advice the next several months though. Their is always something to learn from someone else's experiences, both good and bad.

As of right now my plan is start February of 2020. That's all depending on how this last few years of overseas working goes.

Hi All. I'm new to the forum, so excuse me as I am still learning, but right now I'm planning a NOBO hike starting in March 2019. If anyone else is in the same boat I'd love to keep in touch and share resources... only two more years to plan it all out
