Default Fat and slow section hiker looking for partner

Hello I am mid 40 man looking for some one who would like to meet up and section hike 3 to 5 day doing about 8-10 miles a day. I am a big guy and I am kind of slow.

I am a hammock hanger / gear junkie and I enjoy the camping part of bit more than the hiking part.

Open to almost any part of the AT.

    Thanks James

I wish I could. We sound pretty compatible, other than you being so young :-)

Let me know when you're coming to Yellowstone... . Sounds like my kind of hiking.

Do you have specific dates that you can/want to hike?

I used to live in Ohio and I know where Jackson is.
You can get to Harper's Ferry in about 5 1/2 hours drive.

You could come out for the Flip Flop Festival and there would be plenty of folks on the trail with you.

I am in the planning stages of a NOBO section hike starting at Harper's Ferry the first week of June. I am not too fat but old and pretty slow. I usually hike for a month or more but would welcome some company for all or part of it.

you didn't state a time frame. I'm looking to do the Shenandoah park area sometime before the bubble hits...

Fat and slow, exactly the kind of hiker I MIGHT be able to keep up with.

If you're anywhere near the bubble at all, there will be plenty of people to meet and talk to at any shelter during a 5 day stretch. Maybe even a few to hike with. I wouldn't worry too much about finding a hiking partner. Just go, meet some new people and enjoy it.

I'll be sectioning north half of Maine in September and perhaps all of Vermont probably in July.

    How long are your sections?
Any plans for a 3-4 day route?

Yep. Labor Day weekend. Starting at Caratunk at least by that Saturday, but perhaps Friday afternoon. Hiking to Monson, ETA some time Monday, Labor Day. That's 36.7 miles total, thus about 10 or 12 miles a day, depending on start/finish days/times.

After that, my Nashville hike partner has to fly home and I'll do the Hundred Mile Wilderness alone. I plan 8 days, plus a 9th from Abol Bridge to Katahdin Stream Campground. 109.3 miles total. Might take a NERO at White House Landing. 12 mpd, with a spare day (actually, two) at the end if needed before flying home.

That's for Maine. Vermont is still up in the air, but if I do it this year, am thinking last three weeks of July to do the whole state.

    Sounds like a great plan/trip.
    Good luck and have fun.
Not sure if I can make any, but I have the 100 MW on the bucket list.
And it's pretty much high up.
Let us know how it is.
